About Grammarly

Grammarly is the trusted AI assistant for communication and productivity, helping over 40 million people and 50,000 organizations do their best work. Companies like Atlassian, Databricks, and Zoom rely on Grammarly to brainstorm, compose, and enhance communication that moves work forward. Grammarly works where you work, integrating seamlessly with over 500,000 applications and websites.

Role at Grammarly

As a senior technical recruiter, Catherine is responsible for building Grammarly’s data teams. This involves creating strategic sourcing strategies for current and future talent needs in data science and data engineering. Data is at the core of Grammarly’s products, and it’s an exciting time for innovation in this space.

Q: What’s a trend in tech/innovation that you think more people should pay attention to?

Agentic AI is a big emerging trend in the industry. At Grammarly, we see agents as AI systems that are designed to take independent action based on their understanding of an environment, often acting as proactive assistants to enhance efficiency and productivity. Our 5th Annual Report with the Harris Poll found that people are warming up to the idea of AI agents working on their behalf—our research shows the top opportunities that people want to see agents solve for are administrative tasks, internal collaboration, strategic communications, and creative content generation.

Q: What’s one “moonshot” idea that would help put Ohio on the map as a leading tech hub?

Investing in data and technical literacy in public education while also providing opportunities to upskill the existing workforce is critical. Data skills are becoming increasingly essential for any job, technical or otherwise. The proposed computer science high school graduation requirement is on the right track.

Q: Outside of work, what’s a favorite hobby or activity that you enjoy?

I enjoy hiking and cycling! My husband and I recently moved from the Columbus area to Yellow Springs. We love living close to nature preserves and the Little Miami Scenic Trail.

Q: If someone were visiting your city, what’s one can’t miss coffee shop or restaurant people should try?

As a new resident, I am still exploring, but I’m already a big fan of Yellow Springs Bakery & Cafe! I highly recommend stopping by for an empanada or almond croissant if you are ever in the village.
