About Gosling’s Leap

Gosling’s Leap is a digital insurance consulting firm specializing in pet insurance. We assist startups, MGAs, and established B2B insurance companies with strategy, operations, distribution, culture, channel expansion, and profitability.

Role at Gosling’s Leap

Laura uses her background as an insurtech founder, an actuary, and a leader to help businesses think differently about their strategies, goals, and culture. She also likes to build businesses and introduce new technology and digital approaches to insurance.

Q: What’s a trend in tech/innovation that you think more people should pay attention to?

Forrester’s 2024 annual CX Index — a study that measures the effectiveness, ease, and emotional qualities of customer interactions and customer loyalty — found that not only has CX quality declined for the third consecutive year, it has now reached an all-time low (at least since the index started ranking CX quality nine years ago). We cannot forget the customer experience in the buzz of new technology. This should always be about customer experience.

Q: What’s one “moonshot” idea that would help put Ohio on the map as a leading tech hub?

To position Ohio as the global leader in Water-Based Insurance by creating an Aquifer Resilience & Risk Exchange. This idea would require aquifer monitoring and modeling, a water resilience index, dynamic water insurance, water sustainability incentives, and a risk exchange platform to help meet Ohio’s rapidly growing manufacturing and agriculture sectors.

Q: Outside of work, what’s a favorite hobby or activity that you enjoy?

I love random driving. You arrive somewhere, put the GPS away, and just drive around for hours visiting places you would never have found otherwise. It makes me very happy.

Q: If someone were visiting your city, what’s one can’t miss coffee shop or restaurant people should try?

In Chagrin Falls, I recommend Heartwood, my favorite coffee shop in town, and its sister company just down the street, Evergreen Bakery, which makes to-die-for baked goods.
