OhioX is a growing statewide 501c6 nonprofit on a mission to build Ohio into a tech hub. We center our efforts around connecting, promoting, and advocating for Ohio’s tech and innovation economy. Our members include Fortune 500 companies, startups, tech-focused small and medium sized businesses, universities, research institutions, hospital systems, and more.
The Role
OhioX is seeking a part-time contractor to serve as our Sponsorships & Memberships Manager. This person will play a central role in driving sponsorship and membership sales, managing renewals, and ensuring OhioX investors receive measurable value from their involvement.
The right candidate will thrive in a small, fast-moving team environment where initiative, creativity, and ownership are highly valued. We’re looking for someone who not only manages relationships but also brings forward new ideas on how to better serve members, strengthen sponsor support, and expand OhioX’s reach across the state.
This role offers flexibility (15-20 hours per week), contractor independence, and the opportunity to work directly with executives and leaders shaping Ohio’s future.
Responsibilities
Sponsorships
Develop and manage a pipeline of prospective sponsors for OhioX events, programs, and initiatives.
Conduct outreach and close new sponsorship agreements.
Ensure sponsor deliverables are met, and track/report on ROI.
Strengthen renewal rates through proactive relationship management.
Memberships
Recruit new members across Ohio’s technology ecosystem (startups, enterprises, universities, public sector, nonprofits).
Lead membership renewals and maintain high retention rates.
Engage members actively to ensure they are utilizing their benefits (events, media, councils, etc.).
Investor Success & Engagement
Serve as a trusted point of contact for sponsors and members.
Ensure investors are supported and see tangible value from their OhioX involvement.
Suggest, design, and implement new engagement opportunities, services, or programming.
Collaborate closely with the OhioX team to align events, content, and communications with member/sponsor priorities.
Suggested experience
1+ years of experience in sales, partnerships, or membership development (nonprofit/association or B2B preferred).
Proven track record of closing deals and/or renewing clients.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including comfort engaging senior executives.
Strong organizational skills; able to balance part-time hours with meaningful impact.
Ability to travel across Ohio occasionally (~10%) for events and member/sponsor meetings.
Compensation + Benefits
Role Type: Independent contractor (1099)
Hours: 15-20 per week, flexible scheduling
Competitive pay, base + commission (base dependent on applicant and their experience)
